It Was Refreshing

IRS Fiasco!
In July of 2013, my husband passed away, an untimely passing and I became a widow long before I expected. I had been ill for quite some time prior to his death and I feel that he was trying to shield me from the IRS fiasco. After learning of the overwhelming facts of our indebtedness, becoming a widow unexpectedly and being confined to a wheelchair it became exhausting and depressing. During that time, someone suggested that I contact Lance Drury. I called and schedule an appointment with him at his Columbia office and thereby retained his services. Stood His Ground!
As a working citizen in the state of Missouri, I fell behind in the past on paying my federal taxes. The IRS took note of this and took a strong stand in accepting my payments as time went by. But what I sent was not enough for them and as a result, they took multiple paychecks from me.

I must commend Mr. Drury on his ability to resolve my tax situation in a timely manner. I have had tax issues for years and tried three different tax resolution companies to no avail. Couldn’t Find Help or A Way Out!
I was having trouble with my past tax debt and I couldn’t find help nor a way out. My husband heard an ad on the radio one day for the law offices of Lance Drury, he though he sounded like what I needed, so he wrote the phone number down and I called to set up an appointment. I was apprehensive about the first meeting, but those fears went away as soon as I met Mr. Drury, he was very kind and reassuring and he made me feel at ease from the start. Took On My Very Difficult Situation!
Mr. Drury agreed to take on my very difficult situation without hesitation. My mother has passed away and unknown to me she had some considerable tax issues from some inheritance form one of her siblings. I found this out when I tried to sell her home which I had purchased for her but titled in both of our names. With the existing mortgage on the home plus the cost to sell it there would be zero money left over to satisfy any of the tax liens that had been placed on the home. I had called at least 20 different people at the Missouri Department of Revenue looking for assistance on how to best handle this problem. Their only response was to pay her back taxes. On every call, I explained and demonstrated that there was zero dollars in her estate and there was no way this could happen to which they said my options were to pay, hold the house and keep paying the mortgage, or let the house go and damage my own credit. Mr. Drury in only a couple of weeks times was able to reach into the DOR and find a way to get the liens released from the home so it could be sold. He saved my family a lot of money and heartache. I would absolutely recommend Lance Drury to anyone dealing with tax problems.

My wife found Lance and thank goodness, she did! After years of back and forth with the IRS, handled mostly on my own, things took a serious turn. I had a Federal Income Tax lien against me for $32,539 for unpaid income taxes dating back to the tax year 2000.

Previously, I had been working with a tax professional who told me he could get my tax obligation reduced to $500 and the tax lien would be eliminated. On May 5th, 2016, I filed an Offer in Compromise (OIC) with the IRS and went through the process.

On January 6th, 2017, I received a rejection letter from the IRS for my offer of $500. They said they would agree to a settlement of $14,902.60 for the full amount of the tax lien. I was, also informed if I didn’t agree with that I had a certain time frame to file an appeal.

At this point, I decided to call Lance Drury to see if through this was all I could do. After my initial meeting with him I was convinced that if I turned this matter over to him I would get a fair and complete deal.

He investigated my entire tax situation and filed the appeal. He asked for detailed information the first tax professional didn’t. He dug into every penny of my expenses and assets. After much negotiating with the IRS he got results. On May 24th, 2017, I received a letter from the IRS accepting my OIC for $500 and I could even make payments. I had initially paid them $100 to file and sent them the balance of $400 to put this whole nightmare to rest.

I went through a devastating divorce six years ago and when you lose a second income the most important thing you need to do is keep a roof over your head and your stomach full. But that does not keep the IRS “wolf” away from your door when you owe back taxes. I was, and still am, in the legal profession, but there was no where I could turn in regard to my taxes in arrears.
